Telangana Sets Its Sights on Becoming India’s Benchmark in Digital Safety
IT Minister Sridhar Babu outlines an ambitious roadmap for cyber-secure governance at SCSC Conclave 2025

Telangana Sets Its Sights on Becoming India’s Benchmark in Digital Safety
Telangana has announced a bold and forward-looking mission to become India’s benchmark state for digital safety and cyber-secure governance, positioning itself as a national leader in protecting citizens, government systems, and businesses from emerging digital threats. This vision was presented by State IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu during his keynote address at the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) Conclave 2025 held in Hyderabad.
A Vision for a Digitally Safe and Future-Ready Telangana
In his address, Sridhar Babu emphasized that as India’s digital footprint expands across financial services, governance, education, healthcare, and everyday communication, the need for cyber-resilience has become more urgent than ever. He stated that Telangana’s goal is not merely to react to cybercrimes but to build a preventive, intelligence-driven, and citizen-friendly safety ecosystem.
The Minister highlighted that digital safety is now an integral component of Telangana’s long-term growth blueprint outlined in the ‘Telangana Rising Vision – 2047’. This strategy aims to establish a robust cybersecurity infrastructure, promote responsible digital behavior, and ensure that all government services operate on secure, transparent platforms.
Strengthening Cyber Infrastructure and Governance
Sridhar Babu detailed several steps the government is taking to strengthen the digital safety network across the state:
1. Advanced Cyber Monitoring and Response Systems
The state is expanding its cybersecurity capabilities with AI-driven threat detection, real-time monitoring of suspicious activities, and integrated data platforms that help authorities respond faster to attacks.
2. Stronger collaboration with industry and security bodies
Partnerships with tech companies, cybersecurity specialists, and organizations like the SCSC are being deepened to share intelligence, conduct training, and deploy modern defense mechanisms across Hyderabad’s tech ecosystem and beyond.
3. Upgrading law enforcement with digital tools
Cybercrime units are being equipped with enhanced training, forensic tools, and improved coordination systems to ensure that digital fraud, ransomware, and online harassment are contained swiftly and effectively.
Empowering Citizens Through Education and Awareness
One of the most notable parts of Telangana’s strategy is its focus on mass digital awareness. Sridhar Babu explained that many cyber frauds, such as digital arrest scams and investment scams, succeed due to lack of awareness rather than weak technology. To address this:
4. Cyber safety curriculum in schools
The government plans to introduce cyber-safety lessons for school children, enabling them to understand secure online behavior, data protection, and early identification of cyber threats.
5. Statewide awareness campaigns
Public outreach programs will teach citizens how to handle suspicious calls, protect personal data, and use government digital services safely.
Digital Governance Reforms Boost Citizen Trust
Telangana has already taken significant steps to make digital governance both accessible and secure. A major example is the rollout of 580+ MeeSeva services through WhatsApp, allowing citizens to access certificates, documents, and utility services seamlessly. The Minister stated that such initiatives must not only provide convenience, but also incorporate strong safety layers to prevent misuse of citizen data.
Concluding his address, Sridhar Babu said that Telangana is committed to setting a national model for digital safety, and the state aims to showcase how robust cybersecurity, citizen empowerment, and innovative digital governance can coexist harmoniously.
He added that Telangana’s approach is not about chasing the future but building it through a secure, transparent, and technologically advanced ecosystem that other states can emulate.
